Residential Interior Design
Residential design informed by decades of property management, building operations, construction coordination, and public-sector experience.
Soulier Design Studio brings together residential interior design with a practical understanding of how buildings function, age, adapt, and perform over time.
Founder and Principal Designer Deborah Soulier brings 38 years of property management experience, including 17 years supporting an Ontario Crown real-estate portfolio through DMS, with Infrastructure Ontario as the client. She founded Soulier Design Studio in 2007 while continuing her property-management career, allowing both disciplines to inform one another.
Ontario Crown Real-Estate Experience
From 2006 to 2023, Deborah managed a diverse portfolio of Ontario Crown lands, buildings, and leasehold properties through DMS, with Infrastructure Ontario as the client.
The portfolio included residential, commercial, agricultural, vacant, protected, and culturally significant properties held for future development, infrastructure planning, disposition, or long-term public stewardship. Lease agreements were administered in the name of Her Majesty the Queen in Right of Ontario and, following the accession of King Charles III, His Majesty the King in Right of Ontario.
Responsibilities included asset planning, property inspections, maintenance and capital planning, lease administration, contractor and consultant coordination, purchasing and work-order administration, environmental remediation, heritage conservation, and liaison with tenants, municipalities, ministries, agencies, and community stakeholders.
Her portfolio extended across the Parkway Belt, Uxbridge, Pickering, Richmond Hill, the West Don Lands, Scarborough, and the Markham Agricultural Reserve. She also supported the management and transition of Crown lands that became part of Rouge National Urban Park.
Property Management as a Design Foundation
Property management was one of Deborah’s greatest educators. It provided firsthand knowledge of how buildings perform over time—how materials age, where maintenance issues arise, how occupants use spaces, and how planning decisions affect comfort, accessibility, operating costs, and long-term value.
That experience now brings a practical, operational perspective to Soulier Design Studio’s work, reinforcing the importance of thoughtful planning, durable materials, coordinated execution, and homes designed to adapt and endure.

Each project is considered as an integrated whole, with function, materials, accessibility, maintenance, and long-term use informing the design from the beginning.
Material Integrity, Sustainability & Accessible Design
Material selection is central to the studio’s work. Decisions are informed by ingredient transparency, emissions, sourcing, durability, maintenance, environmental impact, occupant well-being, and the anticipated lifecycle of a material or product.
Sustainability is approached through responsible sourcing, durable materials, adaptable spaces, reduced replacement, and design decisions that continue to serve the home and its occupants over time.
As a CHBA Qualified Adaptiv Home Renovation Specialist, Deborah also considers how thoughtful planning can support comfort, independence, safety, and changing needs without creating environments that feel clinical or overtly adapted.
Multidisciplinary Collaboration
Soulier Design Studio collaborates with homeowners, architects, builders, consultants, trades, fabricators, suppliers, and other project specialists.
The studio contributes interior design, material-specification, accessible-design, and residential-experience expertise to complex residential renovations, restorations, custom homes, and multidisciplinary project teams.
Full-service residential projects are delivered across Ontario, with remote design consulting available worldwide.
